You never run out of ideas to help us all on the use of the internet. True enough many of us are becoming to be IT enthusiasts. Arranging the science lessons in this forum into specific categories made it really look like enterring a library with something like the Dewey system in use. Everybody finds it a lot easier to browse for particular facts and ideas. I just hope we can maximize the use of these resources. We at PEQMNHS thank you for these and more. |

Thanks, Imelda, for noticing the categorization of the lessons. It does make it easier to navigate through the lessons.
By the way, I visited the PEQMNHS Yahoo! mailing list and found that they have also developed quite a list of links to educational sites. It is obvious that some students are indeed finding that the internet could be useful in their studies. I am impressed. |

Since 2003 when the school started its operations, we have been assigning researches by searching the web. Of course, only a few can afford the hourly rate so we just give specific assignments by groups so that they can chip in for it. Now that the SB Cyberlibrary is offering it for free, individual assignments are given. This forum made it even easier for us all to do that. And the low cost of printing and scanning made Inet use even more accessible for these kids. They are enjoying and at the same time relieved at not having to pay for the use of this very important educational tool. We are now at the stage of readying them for designing reports using powerpoint. Is that what I think you want us to do with the presentations using these science lessons? We are trying to make it possible. By the time you get back here with us, you'll see for yourself what we are preparing for you, and all other stakeholders/visitors to see. These kids may not have enough resources but with support and compassion from concerned Paetenians they'll go places someday. |

I think what you propose is a good idea. By making their own presentations they will be learning together. The important thing is that they begin reading and exploring these materials. If they appreciate the concepts involved, they will appreciate science. What I hope is that they will maintain their interest in studying nature and ourselves. Who knows, with that interest, they may even begin considering building a career in science. Nevertheless, their awareness of these fields will have a significant effect in Paete's community. Keep up the good work and I do look forward to listening and viewing these presentations when I visit Paete. |

Hello again Sir! I just want to inform you that I will be conducting my lessons in Science and Tech I at the SB Cyberlibrary by next week. I'm just negotiating the final arrangements with them. My class will be at 2:30 till about 4:30 pm Wed, Mar 1. We'll be going over available pictures of the earth and outer space. I will guide my students as they go over some of the lessons in this forum. For my third year it will be 7:30 to 9:00 am *the date is to be arranged. Any update about the videos? |

Hi, Imelda. I have not heard yet from J. Chem. Ed. but I did send them
a follow-up email today. I will try to call them next week.
There are a lot of links regarding space. The first one I would recommend is the lesson on the Hubble (or telescopes, in general):
http://paete.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1020
The others and I am sure, you are aware, are under the section Astronomy. Good luck and have fun. |

Prof. Angel,
The third year top 15 students prepared 10 PP presentation on some topics in CHEMISTRY section you have posted in this forum. Year I students prepared theirs using the Astronomy section. They're excited because this was the first time they were given the chance to work on this kind of presentation. They maximized the SB cyberlibrary and the computer units in school to come up with these as a requirement for year end clearance. We'll be viewing their presentation at the SB cyberlibrary or in school if we can borrow a projector....
By the way can you please give me some links on the ff. topics: Energy and Pollution, Home Energy and Indoor Pollution, Alternative energy sources and other related concepts

Hi, Imelda
If you can, please email the microsoft powerpoint presentations so that I can post them in this forum. But before sending the presentations, please make sure that if a figure was used on a slide that the source of the figure is properly cited. Thanks. I will be sending money through Ka Noel for each of the students (the third year top 15 students) that prepared a presentation. I am sending US$20 for each student. It is an Easter present. I am very happy that they made use of these resources. Many thanks.

Please forward a letter detailing what laboratory equipment may be of use to Paete's high school to either Kon. Pascual or Kon. Cosico. Ateneo is willing to donate used equipment to PEQMNHS, but they would need a formal request coming from Paete. Thanks, in advance.

Dear Prof. Angel,
Could you please post a science lesson on mirrors and lenses? I need them for my Physics class. As for the Chem VCDs, we're in the process of exploring them. By next week the viewing will be included in my lessons on matter, and on nuclear physics as well.
Thanks for the resolution on the seapration of PEQMNHS.

Prof. Angel,
I've given those links to my students. I'm about to visit the new one you posted. By the way, to whom should we address the letter for ATENEO regarding the lab apparatus?

Please provide the list to Kon. Cosico. He can then bring the list personally to the chairs of the science departments and the dean at the Ateneo. Kon. Cosico can draft the letter on his own - what he would need is the list, however. |

I've given the list to him as you said last July 24. Can I come when it's to be forwarded to Ateneo? I'm very much willing to do the follow up.

Dear Prof Angel,
Could you please post a lesson on student projects on electricity and magnetism? Also related links on developments in this field here in our country. I've viewed what you've posted on this topic and my students will be visiting these lessons by the last week of Aug till Oct.
As for my chemistry class, we'll be dealing on colloids, gases and chemical bonding.
The first periodical exams will be on Aug 16-17. We'll see then how these guys fare in the tests. For Physics it's all about light and radioactivity; and for Chemistry on classification of matter and solutions.
The UPCAT science part dealt much about biology and chemistry. We're keeping our fingers crossed while waiting for the results.
I was told that Ateneo will be studying the list of equipment I provided for our request. Could you please give me the email ad of Anne Lan? I could use her help on some matters too.
Stay as supporting as you are. God bless.

AnneLan is a member of the mailing list. Please direct your query there.
However, I think only the chairs of Physics and Chemistry will look into your equipment request since they are the only ones qualified to make such an assessment plus they are the only ones who will know what is available. |
